Unfortunately this book came at the wrong time for me, and, I have to admit, frightened me a lot due to the depiction of office politics, favoritism and other things. A lot of things that the author talked about flew quite a bit over my head and made me feel grateful that I didn't work in an office environment. What else happened at the time I began to read the book is the fact that due to circumstances beyond my control, I gave a two weeks notice and just yesterday had my last day of work, so yes, poor timing. I imagine that in some ways the book can be applied to ordinary workers, but the primary target are directors and managers. What I did find very valuable and what I wished that the author could have focused more on are the multi-generations working in the same place, namely Generation X and Y. (Are Millenials same as Generaton Y?) as well as perhaps cultural sensitivity training or how to provide multicultural seminars at work, and how to work with people who have different backgrounds than we do, after all the world is getting smaller day by day.
